Hosts China PR achieves anticipated triumph.

Two days after its first match, DPR Korea went into its game against China PR with a starting line-up identical to the one it employed during its successful match against Japan. China PR, on the other hand, adapted its defensive line from a four man to five man defence, allowing its 3 centre-backs to thoroughly mark DPR Korea strikers Ri Hyok Chol and Jong Il Gwan. Compared to its first game, the China PR side focussed more on developing the game from the sides by increasing the number of passes to the edges of the field, and created chances by piercing the DPR Korea four man defensive line with rebounded balls.

In the 36th minute, a pass to the right from Rao Wei Hui on the left was cuffed by forward Sun Ke to forward Yu Dabao for a powerful goal which shook the DPR Korea net. DPR Korea also tried to break away from the sides in order to use the forcefulness of its two strikers. However, some aggressive defending on the part of the China PR team was reluctant to allow that to happen.

With the start of the second half a penalty kick was awarded to Wang Yongpo after a clever counterattack saw him get fouled. This he scored, giving his team a two goal lead. China PR now proceeded to solidify its defences, and though a subtle through pass saw DPR Korea midfielder Ro Hak Su barge through the China PR defenders, Chinese goalkeeper Zen Cheng saved the day by courageously clearing the ball. China PR maintained its stamina with some substitutions in midfield, and held its attacking stance whilst also soundly defending its lead. Thus in the dying minutes a long ball spotted by tall DPR Korea forward Pak Hyon Il was forcefully rejected, granting the local hosts’ wishes for a triumph.
