"New possibilities were found among the new players."
The South Korea women's national team returned to Korea through Incheon International Airport on the morning of June 9. Korea played two friendly matches against Myanmar in Yangon. They won the first match 5-0, and they also won the second match by a 4-1 scoreline. The big victories helped erase some of the pain from failing to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Even greater than the big win was how they got these results. For these matches, coach Yoon Deokyeo left players like Kim Jungmi (Incheon Hyundai), Cho Sohyun (Ainak Kobe), Jeon Gaeul (Western New York Flash), and Ji Soyun (Chelsea Ladies) off, and only included players who were born after 1990. This was a step in preparing the younger players to gradually step into the older generation's shoes.
