The Olympic national team has begun their journey to Brazil hoping to make another success in the Olympic games. The Taeguk Warriors won a bronze medal at the 2012 London tournament.

The Olympic team left Incheon International Airport for Sao Paulo, Brazil on July 18. 14 Players were onboard except Son Heungmin, Hwang Heechan, Jang Hyunsoo and Kim Mintae who will join the team later in Brazil. The Taeguk Warriors will have a closed exhibition match against Iraq on July 25 after having an initial training session in Sao Paulo. On July 30 the team will have an exhibition match against Sweden and move to Salvador next day.

Coach Shin Taeyong met reporters at the airport saying "We are going to train about 13 days at the base camp. We are going to make sure ourselves ready to show good performance in the tournament."
