Kuala Lumpur: Ninth-ranked Australia remain Asia’s highest rated women’s national team, while Japan returned to the global top 10 as the latest FIFA Women’s Rankings update was unveiled on Friday.
The new list comes on the same day a friendly match between Asia’s top two sides was announced, with Japan to host Australia in a pre-Olympic friendly in Kyoto on July 14.
Japan’s dominant wins in June friendlies – 8-0 over Ukraine and 5-1 against Mexico – accounted for their rise from 11th, sending them back to the top 10 for the first time since 2019. .....
