Tokyo: Japan’s Olympic captain Maya Yoshida has called on his team to take a more positive approach from the start of their upcoming encounters at the 2020 Tokyo Games after leading his side to a narrow win over South Africa on Thursday.
Takefusa Kubo’s strike was the difference between the nations as Japan made a winning start to their campaign in Group A of the Men's Football tournament at Tokyo Stadium, but Sampdoria defender Yoshida was unhappy with the way Hajime Moriyasu’s team performed in the opening exchanges.
"We were a bit timid on the whole in the first half...We can do a lot more and play more confidently from the start," said Yoshida, according to Kyodo. .....
