On Thursday 2 September, the SAMURAI BLUE (Japan National Team) played their first final round fixture of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Asian qualifiers (Road to Qatar) against the Oman National Team at Suita City Football Stadium (Osaka). The team conceded the only goal of the match in the closing minutes, starting off the final round with a 0-1 loss. Japan will now face China PR at Doha on Tuesday 7 September.
With the team striving to qualify for their seventh straight World Cup, Japan entered the match with GONDA Shuichi (Shimizu S-Pulse) in goal, along with a defence line formed by YOSHIDA Maya (UC Sampdoria), UEDA Naomichi (Nimes Olympique), NAGATOMO Yuto, and SAKAI Hiroki (Urawa Red Diamonds). SHIBASAKI Gaku (CD Leganes) and ENDO Wataru (VfB Stuttgart) anchored the midfield, with ITO Junya (KRC Genk), KAMADA Daichi (Eintracht Frankfurt), and HARAGUCHI Genki (1.FC Union Berlin) playing beneath the lone striker OSAKO Yuya (Vissel Kobe). .....
