Tashkent: A dejected Go Oiwa did not hesitate to admit that his plans went wrong as Japan crashed in the semi-finals of the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 on Wednesday.
The Japanese head coach did not mince his words after the 2-0 defeat to Uzbekistan, saying his team had come to Uzbekistan 2022 to win the title and not for exposure ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“We took part in this tournament to become champions,” said Oiwa. “It was never on the cards to treat this as a platform to garner experience for the 2024 Olympics. .....
