Byun Sunghwan’s side have reached the last eight as Group B runners-up, after losing their final group match against Iran at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup.

Korea Republic lost 2-0 to Iran in Pathum Thani, Thailand on Wednesday, to finish second in the group stage and set up a quarter-final meeting with hosts Thailand at the same venue in three days’ time.

The participating teams in the U-17 Asian Cup have been drawn into four groups of four, with two teams from each group advancing to the last eight. Aiming to qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup by reaching the last four, Korea Republic had already secured their passage to the knockout phase with two straight wins over Qatar and Afghanistan. .....
