Shin Sangwoo’s side lost 2-0 against the Matildas in their second match of the friendly series staged at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on Monday, having lost 1-0 in the first encounter earlier on Friday.
The two-game friendly series was expected to be a good opportunity for the Taegeuk Nangja to climatise ahead of the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in March next year, as they prepared for the continental finals under the guidance of Shin. The newly-appointed coach has called up quite a few new faces since he took charge in October last year, in an attempt to maintain the balance between youngsters and veterans in the midst of an ongoing generation shift.
