The women`s final for the EAFF E-1 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2019 FINAL KOREA REPUBLIC was held December 17th, 2019 at the Busan Gudeok Stadium, pitting Korea Rep. against Japan in a classic battle.
In the 11th minute, Korea Rep. midfielder JANG Chang had a free-kick opportunity, but no Korean player could get to the receiving end. The ball was cleared by Japan.
8 minutes later, Japan forward TANAKA Mina rushed the penalty area, but the Korea Rep. goalkeeper jumped out and made the save.
Japan began using their middle-pass as a weapon, with SUGITA Hina and IKEJIRI Mayu making some great passes on the right side during the 31st minute. 10 minutes later, TANAKA Mina took a shot from left side, but the ball went wide of the goalpost.
In the second half, Korea Rep. searched for a way to break Japan's defense. They started with a fast attack and rushed the penalty area during the 51st minute, but the shot was denied by Japan goalkeeper YAMASHITA Ayaka.
6 minutes later, Korea Rep. forward SON Hwayeon rushed the penalty area, but Japan defender MIYAKE Shiori slid in on time and was able to clear the ball.
In the 72nd minute, Japan substitute UENO Mami had a great chance during a penalty-area rush, but her shot was off-target.
Japan kept the pressure on, and in the 82nd minute captain TANAKA Mina led the attack and created few free-kick opportunities.
Japan had a great penalty-shot opportunity in the 88th minute due to a hand ball by SHIM Seoyeon. MOMIKI Yuka took the shot, scoring on the right side of the goal to put Japan on the board 1-0.
Korea Rep. could not recover, and the match ended in a 1-0 match victory for Japan. With this victory, Japan’s women`s team won the 2019 championship.
