Competition System
1.
The Competition will feature ten (10) teams in a group stage, followed by the semi-finals, the play-off for third, fifth, seventh, ninth place and the Final.
2.
The nine participating teams will be divided into two groups by seeding, based on the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking dated 6 April 2023, and draw by the EAFF Secretariat.
3.
The system of play in the group stage shall be a round-robin league system, with each team playing one (1) match against each of the other teams in the same group, with three (3) points for a win, one (1) point for a draw and none for a defeat.
4.
The ranking in each group shall be determined in descending order as follows:
・higher number of points obtained in the group matches;
・if two (2) or more participating teams are equal on points, the following
・criteria are applied to determine the ranking (in descending order):
Head-to-Head Criteria
・higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the participating teams in question;
・superior goal difference from the group matches played among the participating teams in question;
・higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the participating teams in question;
Tiebreaker
if, after having applied the Head-to-Head criteria, two (2) or more participating teams still have an equal ranking, the Head-to-Head criteria shall be reapplied exclusively to the matches between the participating teams in question to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, the following criteria shall apply;
Group Result Criteria
・superior goal difference from all matches played;
・higher number of goals scored from all matches played;
・penalty kicks if only the two (2) participating teams are both on the Field of Play;
・the lower score calculated according to the number of yellow and red cards received in all matches
・the draw of lots.
5.
The two teams finishing first and second in each group will qualify for the
semi-finals as follows:
Semi-final 1: Winner A v Runner-up B
Semi-final 2: Winner B v Runner-up A
6.
The two winners of the semi-finals will contest the final. The two runners-up of the semifinals, the third and fourth in each group will contest for third, fifth, seventh and nineth place as follows:
Play-off for third place:Loser SF1 v Loser SF2
Play-off for fifth place:Third place Group A v Third place Group B
Play-off for seventh place:Fourth place Group A v Fourth place Group B
Final:Winner SF1 v Winner SF2
