The walls of the 'Spanish Armada' remain too high.

June 1 - Uli Stielike's South Korea national team took on the Spanish national team at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria in a friendly match. The match ended in a 1-6 loss for Korea. After letting in the first goal, Korea's defense became shaky following a series of defensive lapses. In the 83' substitute Ju Sejong (Seoul) scored Korea's only goal. This loss broke Korea's streak of 16 matches unbeaten.

Korea lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation to face Spain. Hwang Uijo (Seongnam) was the lone center forward. The attacking midfield line was Son Heungmin (Tottenham), Nam Taehee (Lekhwiya), and Ji Dongwon (Augsburg). In the double pivot were Ki Sungyueng (Swansea City) and Han Kookyoung (Qatar SC). The four-man defensive line was Yun Sukyoung (Charlton), Kim Keehee (Shanghai Shenhua), Hong Jeongho (Augsburg), and Jang Hyunsoo (Guangzhou R&F). Wearing the goalkeeper gloves was Kim Jinhyeon (Cerezo Osaka).
