Sharjah: China PR and Oman picked up their first draw in Group B of the AFC Asian Qualifiers - Road to Qatar, playing out a 1-1 draw at Sharjah Stadium on Thursday.

The two sides went into the game in fourth and fifth place, with Oman’s six points putting them three clear of their opponents, and with Japan defeating Vietnam 1-0 earlier in the day, a win was a must for Oman if they were to retake third place from the Samurai Blue, while China PR knew another defeat would leave them six points adrift of third place at the midway point of the qualifiers campaign.

China PR took the lead halfway through the opening period as the Omani defence struggled to clear a corner, allowing Zhu Chenjie to nod the ball onto the path of talisman Wu Lei who was left with the simplest of tasks, poking in from close range for his third goal in as many games. .....
