Beijing: Shui Qingxia will lead China PR at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 after the Chinese Football Association confirmed her appointment as head coach on Thursday.

An Olympic silver medallist in 1996, Shui is set to become the first former Steel Roses player to take the coaching reins of the Chinese senior women’s national team.

The 54-year-old comes to the top job having previously led the Shanghai women’s team, and is the long-term replacement for Jia Xiuquan, whose tenure came to end following the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. .....
