The East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) has confirmed today that the EAFF E-1 Championship 2022 Finals (E-1 Finals), its flagship competition, will be held in Japan from July 19 to 27, 2022.

This edition of E-1 Finals, planned to be hosted in China PR, was relocated to Japan given the withdrawal of the host by the Chinese Football Association, due to the recent situations of COVID-19 pandemic across China.

Simultaneously, EAFF also confirmed not to host E-1 Preliminaries for this edition of the Competition and to have the slot available for the winner of the E-1 Preliminary to be awarded to the Member Association with the highest ranking in the FIFA ranking dated 31 March 2022.

Additionally, given the withdrawal of DPR Korea from the E-1 Finals, EAFF confirmed to have the following teams compete in this edition of the E-1 Finals.

Men’s Competition
China PR, Japan, Korea Republic, and Hong Kong

Women’s Competition
China PR, Japan, Korea Republic, and Chinese Taipei
