Korea Republic came from behind to take the lead through goals from Shin Minha in each half, before Kim Taewon doubled the advantage shortly after the hour mark. Quick-fire goals from the Uzbeks forced the match into extra time and then the penalties, where the Taegeuk Warriors had the last laugh with a 3-1 success.
Previously, Korea Republic had reached the quarter-finals by winning Group D with seven points from two wins and a draw, and they marched into the last four to grab a ticket to the world finals.
