Beijing: AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ winning goalkeeper Zhao Lina of China PR has announced she will retire from football with immediate effect on her personal social media page on Friday.
The 31-year-old, who was a member of the squad that clinched the continental title in India last year, made the announcement with three months to go to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
“Today is not the end of my life in football,” Zhao, who also played in the Chinese Women’s Super League for Shanghai RCB, wrote on her official Weibo account. “When the aura of athletes fade away, I think my responsibilities and missions have not ended. .....
